Performance & Riding
What’s the top speed?
Nuefoil can reach speeds of 30–35 km/h, providing a smooth, controlled, and exhilarating ride.
How hard is it to ride an eFoil?
Riding an eFoil is surprisingly accessible, even for beginners:
- Most riders can stand and glide within a few sessions.
- Low-speed settings allow beginners to practice safely.
- With a little patience, riders typically feel confident within 1–2 sessions.
For the easiest learning experience, start in calm water, and consider taking a short introductory lesson.
Is it beginner safe?
Yes — Nuefoil is built with beginners in mind. The board is stable, the controls are intuitive, and the power delivery is smooth, helping new riders progress quickly and confidently.
Can I stand right away, or do I need to start on my knees?
Most riders begin lying or kneeling, then transition to standing within a few attempts. This approach helps new riders feel more comfortable and in control.
What is the maximum rider weight?
The board supports a maximum rider (plus gear) weight of approximately 250 lbs (113 kg) to ensure optimal lift, stability, and performance.
What’s the difference between a jet drive and a shrouded propeller?
- A jet drive uses an enclosed impeller to pull in water and push it out through a nozzle, producing smooth, consistent thrust. Its fully enclosed design offers extra safety and is ideal for beginners.
- A shrouded propeller uses a traditional propeller inside a protective guard. It delivers strong, efficient power and typically longer ride times, making it a preferred choice for performance-oriented riders.
When is the jet drive launching?
The jet drive is in its final development stages and is scheduled for release within the next few months.
Can I upgrade to the jet drive with my current board?
Yes — the jet drive is being designed to be compatible with existing Nuefoil boards, so current owners can upgrade without purchasing a new board.
Board & Gear
How heavy is the board?
The Nuefoil board weighs approximately 75 lbs (34 kg) — sturdy enough for stability yet manageable for transport and handling.
What gear do I need to ride safely?
We recommend wearing a life jacket, helmet, and appropriate water sports protection. In colder climates, a wetsuit or drysuit is highly recommended.
How do I take care of my board?
Nuefoil is designed to be low-maintenance. To keep it performing well:
- Rinse with fresh water after each ride.
- Check bolts and connections regularly.
- Charge and store the battery properly.
- Inspect the foil and propeller for any wear or damage.
Most maintenance is quick and can be done after rides or seasonally.
How do I store everything in the winter if I’m not going to ride?
Ensure your board, battery, and components are completely dry before storing. Keep everything in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight. Store the battery at 40–70% charge, avoid freezing temperatures, and store it separately from the board. Proper winter storage helps maintain long-term performance.
What’s the difference from other eFoils?
Nuefoil focuses on affordability, durability, and ease of use. Our system is designed for families and entry-level riders, offering stable performance, simple setup, and reliable components — all at a more accessible price point than many competitors.
Battery & Charging
How long will the battery last?
Ride times vary based on rider weight, speed, and water conditions. Most riders can expect 40–80 minutes of continuous use on a full charge.
How long does it take to charge a battery?
The battery typically takes 2–2.5 hours to reach a full charge using the standard charger.
How do I take care of my battery?
Proper battery care ensures long life, optimal performance, and safety. Follow these guidelines:
- Charge fully before your first ride and avoid letting it completely drain.
- Use only the supplied charger and follow all manufacturer charging instructions.
- Store in a cool, dry place, ideally at 50–70% charge if not using for extended periods.
- Rinse and dry the battery compartment after saltwater exposure.
- Avoid extreme temperatures, as excessive heat or cold can damage the battery.
- Inspect the battery regularly for swelling, cracks, or leaks — discontinue use immediately if any issues appear.
With proper care, your battery will deliver reliable performance for many rides.
Usage Conditions
Can I ride in saltwater and fresh water?
Yes — Nuefoil is designed for both. After saltwater use, rinse all components thoroughly with fresh water to protect the hardware.
How deep does the water need to be to ride?
We recommend at least 2 meters of depth to protect both the rider and the foil from contact with the bottom.
What’s the minimum age to ride an eFoil?
eFoils are suitable for riders of all ages; however, anyone under the legal age should be supervised by a responsible adult, either on the water or watching from shore.
